The carbon fiber doctor blades used for paper machine dryer cylinders on the market are not pure carbon fiber, but carbon fiber composite materials. Pure carbon fiber is brittle and difficult to form, so it cannot be directly used as a blade.
The base material is usually epoxy resin, phenolic resin or high-temperature resistant thermoplastic resin, with continuous carbon fiber as the reinforcement. It is manufactured through impregnation, compression molding and high-temperature curing. This structure retains the high strength, low density and high temperature resistance of carbon fiber, while providing toughness and processability from the resin matrix, making the blade wear-resistant, stable and non-scratching to the cylinder surface.
